FAQS
What years do you teach?
I teach children from Reception to Year 3, supporting them through these important early years of learning.
What subjects do you teach?
I specialise in Phonics, English, and Maths for children in Reception to Year 3. For phonics, I follow the Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS) scheme, which is a clear and consistent approach proven to support children’s early reading and writing. For maths, I use the White Rose scheme of learning, which builds strong number skills through small, manageable steps. Both approaches are widely used in schools, which means my lessons not only strengthen key skills but also link directly with what your child is learning in class.
Do you offer one-to-one or group sessions?
Yes — I offer both.
- One-to-one sessions are tailored entirely to your child’s needs. This focused approach helps build confidence and allows me to give individual support at your child’s pace.
- Small group sessions: (up to 4 children) are a wonderful way for children to learn alongside peers. They still get personalised support, but also benefit from working together, sharing ideas, and learning through games and discussion.
Both options are designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun — ensuring every child feels happy and supported as they learn.
How are the lessons delivered?
AtHappyDais, I teach in person and offer both individual and small group sessions. I believe children learn best when they are fully engaged, so each lesson is designed to be hands-on and interactive. We usually begin with a short introduction to the topic, then children can explore a range of carefully prepared activities set up on tables — a bit like free-flow learning. These activities are linked to the lesson theme and allow children to learn in a way that feels fun and natural. At the end, we come back together to share what we’ve discovered, celebrate successes, and complete some challenges to reinforce learning.
How long is each lesson?
Lessons usually last 45 minutes. There will be a lot of movement around the room which I’ve found works best for young learners’ focus and engagement
Do I need to sit with my child during lessons?
No — I kindly ask that parents do not stay in the room during lessons. Having a parent present can sometimes make it harder for children to fully engage. It’s important that children feel independent and comfortable, which helps them build confidence. For younger children in Reception, you’re welcome to stay nearby at first while they settle in, but the session itself works best without parents in the room.
Please be assured that all sessions take place in a safe, supportive, and structured environment, where your child’s wellbeing is always the top priority.
Are you DBS checked?
At HappyDais, your child’s safety and wellbeing always come first. I am fully committed to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
- I hold a current, enhanced DBS check, so you can feel confident that I have been safely vetted to work with children.
- I follow clear safeguarding and child protection procedures to ensure children are always safe in my care.
- All sessions are structured and age-appropriate, designed to help children feel confident and secure while they learn.
- Parents are kept informed and updated, so you can trust that your child is happy, safe, and making progress.
Happy children learn best — and safe children learn even better. 🌼
What if my child struggles to focus?
That’s absolutely fine — I understand that every child is different. I break lessons into short, engaging activities and adapt to your child’s needs with movement breaks, hands-on tasks, and plenty of encouragement.
Do you follow the school curriculum?
Yes — my lessons are carefully planned tosupport and build on what your child is learning at school. This helps them feel more confident in class and ensures consistency.

Booking is simple — just head to the Services tab in the main menu, choose the session type that best suits your child, and select a time slot that works for you. Once booked, you’ll receive a confirmation, and your child will be ready to begin their HappyDais learning journey!
